I, Petros Ounchayvra, am the
director of Foursquare Children of Promise in Cambodia. I have a
testimony about the saving of an abandon baby’s life.
First, I would like to tell you about this baby before she was born and
came to live in Bakou church. Sorry, but for privacy,
I can not provide the names of the baby’s parents, but both of them
lived in another orphan organization.
They were unmarried orphans that loved each other until they had the
baby. However, while they were pregnant their director began to feel
uncomfortable with them because he was afraid that it was a bad example
to the other orphans. So, he decided to ask them to leave
the organization. According to the mother, after they left the baby’s
father had to work very hard to earn money to support them.
Unfortunately,
he was not a good man and didn’t want to take any further responsibility
so he abandoned his wife and unborn child. Not knowing what to do,
the young woman decided to ask an old neighbor and family friend in
Pursat Province for help.
He allowed her to live with them until the baby was born. During this
time, she ran into some problems, but the family was very
kind and often paid any medical bills. She is very grateful to the
family. After she delivered her baby daughter, she decided to depart
from the
family because she didn’t want to disturb them any longer. However, to
support herself and her daughter she had to begin begging. She struggled
and
led a miserable life. She also became ill and during this time was
unable to find any money to provide for her daughter. She then decided
to give up
her daughter and began looking for a family that could care for her.
During her search, someone told her of Bakou Church. On July 10th,
2009
I, Petros Ounchayrva, and our group of young pastors happened to be
teaching at the church when we heard the sobs of the young woman and her
daughter.
Suddenly, the woman burst into tears and pled for help. “If someone
doesn’t take my daughter, I don’t know what to do. I can’t raise my
daughter any more.
I will throw her into the river.” We went out to talk with her, and asked
her and daughter to stay with us in the church. She was very happy.
Sadly, she herself
did not want to stay. She left and we are now caring for you young
daughter. We don’t know her name, but have given her the name, Sok-Leap.
All have determined that she is six months old. Her name Sok-Leap means
blessing and freedom from suffering. At the moment, she doesn’t have
mother’s milk to nourish her so she is often ill. And finding the
correct food for her is a challenge. If you or someone you know would
like to help support
Sok-Leap your generosity would be great appreciated. God bless you.
